Swords Celtic team visit Cloghertown United for tournament - 28th June 2009
"On a hot and humid Saturday morning the Sunday 3A side were invited to Cloghertown United for a tournament. With 16 sides invited the players were looking forward to playing teams from the Meath Leagues.
The competition itself was a 6 a side with 2 roll on subs. The match was 10 minutes each way which meant it was going to be fast. There was no room for error as any slip up would cost you.
Heat was a big factor as was fitness. Our lads had been back training since the 2nd of June and this stood to them, moving forward and chasing back. Not knowing the other teams, we were hoping to do well and we did, narrowly getting beaten 1-0 in the semi final. The players worked hard and gave their all and were satisfied with their performance.
A long, hot, tiring but enjoyable day was had, and a great experience to play other leagues."
We would like to thank Noel Perry and Cloghertown United for their invitation and the kind hospitality.
